Help me, I’m holding on for dear life, won’t look down won’t open my eyes

I’m a little let down, but I’m not dead  There’s a little bit more that has to be said

Don’t be scared I’m still here

"Strong is the New Pretty" is a new photo series by Kate Parker which shows her two daughters and their friends "just as they are: loud, athletic, fearless, messy, joyous, frustrated. I wanted to celebrate them, just as they are, and show them that is enough.  Being pretty or perfect is not important. Being who they are is."

Photos by Kate T. Parker.

And it seems I speak  Like waters leak  And I’m losing friends, oh

You sit around getting older   There’s a joke here somewhere and it’s on me  I’ll shake the world of my shoulders

I’ll shine like the moon  And very soon  I’ll fly over you  And watchu gonna do

SIDE NOTES: Sondre Lerche Covers Miley

A name you couldn’t escape in 2013? Miley. A name that hasn’t yet had rabid public attention? Sondre.

It’s no secret that we are big fans of Sondre Lerche. He’s a damn gem. We have hosted him many times over for utterly breathtaking and fun live sets, and each holiday season we look forward to hearing which song he has decided to cover per his new tradition (remember ‘Countdown’?).

I know what you’re thinking. Oh, another cover of ‘Wrecking Ball’, been there done that. Much like Lorde’s haunting cover of Tears For Fears, Sondre’s take on Miley is unexpectedly awesome. The minimalist approach and slow build seems to amplify the yearning and anguish of the fallen love depicted in the song. Well done, Sondre.

Through the years  How can you stand to hear  My pleading for you

Will you turn me away or touch me deep inside?  And before this gets old, will it still feel the same?
